Because v6.x hasn't been EOL'd yet.  We know it will just as all other 
earlier versions before it have been, and as v7 becomes increasingly 
robust and efficient that day gets ever closer.  But at this time the 
team has not yet announced the EOL date for v6.

Yes, which is why it's useful for all of us to use to v7 if we want to 
take advantage of bug fixes and enhancements going forward.
