mobileComposeMail - Yosemite - LC 6.6.5 - iOS 8.1 - Bug..?

I have not had this problem. I'm using LC 6.6.5 and just tested on iOS 8.02 Mavericks/Xcode 6.1.
How do you determine iPad/iPhone? Do you use resolution?

I have an app that determines if you are on an iPad or an iPhone and will go to the appropriate card.  
I have the SAME code on both cards to send an email:

mobileComposeMail theSubj,,,,theNote,”"

It works fine on the iPad but won’t do anything for the iPhone…  Has anyone else encountered this problem…?
