Livecode membership

I'm wondering what this offers that the full commercial license doesn't. I'm learning a lot about livecode and have a commercial license, and I figure the "Academies" will still be available to me. 

It seems this "membership" is targeted at the users of the opensource version of livecode. Am I correct?
