location of a chunk in a field

I seem to remember a function or property that would give me the location of a chunk in a field. I have a field where I want to find the location for any given word in that field.

Is this possible? Did I dream it? :-) I suppose it’s possible I had a custom function for this at one point and that’s what I’m thinking of.

Any help would be appreciated.
