I got tired of this for my output, and wrote an (ugly) script that loops
through the input & output card, finds in/out fields & buttons, and groups
them as custom properties of the card or group.

Seems to me the same could be done with the source code with a special kind
of comment (a la compiler directives), so that the lists would be built on
compile.
