Yup; it did :P

Had a lot of "fun" at the command line, having booted from a live disk, 
to get the "blessed" thing to behave itself.

HOWEVER, I would like a spot of advice from a Linux Mage (Richard Gaskin 
???)
as with the 13.10 upgrade I have lost the ability to unlock my sources 
list, and otherwise
authenticate any actions; so no upgrades, no onothing, and that makes things
bl**dy difficult.
