chars changed in a fld

Hi list,

On mac OS mavericks, LC 6.5

I’ve scanned a text in French language with an OCR soft and save it as plain text.
I import the text via a script in a fld and get strange result

the accentuated chars are replaced by 2 chars in the fld in LC but are good in textEdit (Occidental macOS roman Option)
for example : 
 - « é » with « √© »
 - « à » with « √† »
What’s the problem ?
