What's eating my keystrokes?

Hi all.

I've figured out what, but not why. The specific thing that triggers the bug
is a line that opens an answer dialog asking the player to make a selection
between two options. When I comment out that line, no bug.

I don't know much about LC under the hood. Does anyone have an explanation
or theory as to why the standard modal "answer" dialog box would latch on to
the keyboard inputs and not let go?
