[OT] Change Default Finder View On OS X?

Anybody know if it's possible to change the default window contents when
opening a new Finder window?  Every time I launch a new window, the Finder
defaults to showing "All My Files".  This would be fine except it includes
email messages, which numbers over 10,000 and can take several seconds to
display.
Any way to change this behavior?  Or simply select a new default somehow?
