Is Snapshot Possible with Two Monitors?

I'm using Livecode 5.5.4 on a Mac running 10.7.5 and I get pretty weird results. If I create a new main stack, put a single button on the one and only card which issues "import snapshot" on mouseUp I can click it and get the crosshair cursor. But no matter where I drag open a rectangle nothing happens and I continue to have the crosshair cursor as I drag open one rectangle after another. If I type a keyboard shortcut such as command-S I then get a snapshot from some random area on the monitors imported as an image.
