Graphic tools - works in IDE, fails in Standalone: getting desperate

I never have used StackRunner although I admire Ken for many reasons: but it takes less than a minute to create a standalone and start it on my development machine (an iMac), so what would the real advantage be? At my current stage of testing, I need to know that the ultimate user will be able to run the program both on Mac and PC.
Still, I don't wish to be stubborn and will therefore take a look at StackRunner.
Thanks
Graham
