Backdrop under Ubuntu Linux

Hi All,

Just out of curiosity,

Why the backdrop does not shows
under Ubuntu Linux?

I am using Lubuntu and there is no indication
in the docs or the online dictionary that
backdrop does not works under Ubuntu.
