Table Field question

I use excel all the time, and have never seen that. The newly editable cell is exactly like the rest of the sheet in look and feel.

Notice too that the font changes. It seems similar to how in Excel the text 
entry field is a fixed font and size, regardless of the font settings of the 
cells themselves.
