I vaguely recall the old-style size restrictions were removed entirely, 
so there's no list any more. I forget the details, I just remember those 
errors disappeared.

Graphic Converter. Save-As and it's done for both Mac and Windows.

Wandering off topic: I couldn't live without GC, it's the BBEdit of 
image manipulation. Last week I changed a couple of hundred images 
located in a dozen or more subfolders; they were all cropped, resized, 
made transparent, and converted to pngs with one click.
