Scrolling List Field Line Highlighting

I've noticed that the highlighting of selected lines in a scrolling list
field looks a lot different on Windows than on Mac.  The hilite color is
the same but on a Mac, the text in the line stays black at it's defined
color (black for me) whereas on Windows, the text is colored white and
pretty much unreadable.

I don't think I'm doing anything to cause that behavior but has anyone
found a way to have the text color stay the same on Windows as it does on a
Mac?
