Setting the volume of a video in iOS

It works fine in my iOS own apps as :

set the playLoudness to [0-10]

but in case of full screen video playback, only the harware sounds buttons may be available (untested) what seems a pretty good way to go in about general ergonomics of mobile apps/devices.
