[ot] is it safe to upgrade to lion?

Yes - most of my gripes about Lion are about UI "Improvements" in their own
apps. The actual performance and reliability seem to be better.

I was getting used to using Preview as my go-to Photoshop replacement, then
Lion took away the "Save As.." menu item and function so now I have to do
this "make a copy" dance to make an alternate version of a document.
Several steps are now added and it's not clear what's happening.

It tries so hard to keep me from screwing up that it gets in the way.
Changes a workflow that I've been using for years.... This is not
progress, it's just annoying. Same with Textedit.

The Snow version of Textedit still works in Lion, but the SN Preview fails.
And don't get me started about the monochrome icons in the sidebar (WHY?)
when the custom icons were very useful in navigation. Now they are
converted to hard to read white ones. Maybe there will be a version of
Tinkertool that can restore this.
