One thing that can work is I've used Axialis IconWorkshop to create icons - they give you "packs" of icon parts that you can assemble into interesting configurations. The icon for StackRunner (http://www.sonsothunder.com/devres/revolution/downloads/images/StackRunner_icon.png) was created that way…
