Distinguishing CLI from GUI

I do this in a commercial app to do string and xml parsing before
shelling off tasks to a C++ program to interface with QuickBooks.
Never see a thing on the screen.

Maybe we should take a step back and ask what theproblem is that
you're trying to solve?
