Czech text

On XP
I copied the Czech word into fld 1

put the text of fld 1 into fld 2 -- works
put fld 1 into fld 2 -- works
--------------------
put fld 1 into v
put v into fld 2
-- works

Am I missing something obvious? It has happened before.
