What was wrong with Mac OS 6 as far as GUI was concerned?

Far, far better than Windows 3.1 at the very least . . .  :)

I am not convinced by the "unified GUI" theory: i.e. that very
program has to look as if it were designed by one person
with one set of ideas how a GUI should look.
