How to show an image in a field?

Hi all --

Recently, on this list I think, I discovered how to show an image  
within a field. It had to do with replacing a character in the field  
with SOMETHING -- but I don't remember what!  The imageData of the  
image? (but that doesn't seem to work)

Can anyone refresh my memory?
