The Dictionary lists these values for "the platform":

    Linux           Linux for Intel or PowerPC architecture
    BSD             BSD UNIX (BSDI, FreeBSD)
    HP-9000/700     HP-UX
    SGI IRIS        Silicon Graphics IRIX

    Intel SCO       SCO Open DeskTop
    Intel SVR4      Solaris for x86 architecture

What does "the platform" return on 64-bit Windows systems?
