Very interesting line of discussion here. I have a couple of rambling
thought to throw in.

Firstly, I love reading books on my iPhone. I always have it with me,
so when the kids are late or I end up stuck in hospital for 2 weeks
(just to use a random example), I have a whole shelf of books with me.

However, that is static content. My favourite authors may write new
books, but their old ones don't change, so reading them while not
connected to the internet is not a problem.

For dynamic content, an internet connection is essential, so I read my
emails and surf the news sites at my desktop computer, or from my
iPhone if I am on a wireless network.

For me, one of the terrific things about the iPhone App Store is that
it allows me to have stuff on my iPhone which does not require an
internet connection. I think some people are so immersed in the tech
world that they just assume that everyone has the 24/7 internet access
that they have themselves. This may be getting close to reality in the
US but is definitely not the case everywhere and developers are making
a mistake if they make that assumption. (It is possible that the
Google OS is falling into this trap.)

So to bring this back to RunRev, it seems to me that with the
introduction of the RevWeb plugin and the On-Rev server technology,
they are giving us both options: static desktop app or dynamic web
content delivery, with largely the same coding. It is up to us as
developers to work out the best delivery method(s) for each particular
app and it's target audience.

Cheers,
Sarah
