Deleting a column ...

I did this:

ON testFunction
     breakpoint
     put "1,2,3" & return & "4,5,6" into myVar
     split myVar by column
     delete variable myVar[2]
     combine myvar by column
     put myVar
END testFunction

After splitting, myVar looks like this:

after combining myVar looks like this:

What I get is:
1,2,3
4,5,6

As you can see it didn't delete anything, and the array doesn't look  
ANYTHING like it should. .
