lineoffset doesn't find empty lines

Hi

I was trying to find an empty line in some text, and thought that  
lineoffset would be perfect for that. however, it seems to not work  
with the search-string being "".

I also thought this used to work (though i'm not totally sure, and  
haven't checked).

So.. bug or not?
