difference selectedline / hilitedline?

Hello,

Which of the following both options is the "correct" way to select a
textline in a field, as if it would have been clicked by the mouse. I can't
actually find any difference in the result.

set the hilitedline of field "foo" to 1

or

select line 1 of fld "foo"
