A mailing list is not as accessible for perusing the
content as a forum is, but has the advantage of
arriving in your mailbox, where you can organize
things the way you like, and reply immediately.

To view the mailing list archive, you don't need to
enter an email address or password - the two fill-ins
that you see are for the list administrator, to do
household tasks.

Having said that, you may want to look at alternatives
for reading the archives of the mailing lists -
especially for older posts.
