Mark,
One of the best compliments I ever got about a software program that I had written was from another programmer. After watching me demo the software interface he looked at me kinda strange and said "this may sound weird, but that looks somehow, beautiful". 
As we were talking about maritime security, data encryption etc. at the time I was rather chuffed...
