Quotes become @ in Win32

Pretty sure. Possibly one of many causes.

apply to all  fields or only the field you're pasting into? When you  
paste unicode  text, it is normal that the keyboard lay-out switches  
to an  encoding/lay-out/mapping compatible with the pasted text."

Useful to  know. Don't know about putting "" into fld xxx. Will try next 
time. And yes, it  affects any typing at all.
