Just read this:
"here is the description of the original concept of
Piles:
Apple holds a patent on this one. Developed by Gitta
Salomon and her team close to a decade ago, a pile is
a loose grouping of documents. Its visual
representation is an overlay of all the documents
within the pile, one on top of the other, rotated to
varying degrees. In other words, a pile on the desktop
looked just like a pile on your real desktop."

and I suddenly thought of the Hypercard stack icon,
and then thought what a good idea it would be if the
icons used by
RR were somehow linked to the stack metaphor . . .
wouldn't it be fun if (Fantasy - Day Dream sequence
coming up) if an RR icon looked like a Hypercard stack
icon, and as one dragged a mouse across it it showed
thumbnails of the cards it contained.
share your ideas on these topics here . . .
sincerely, Richmond Mathewson
[and, parenthetically, if one sits in front of the
computer too long, one does not need a strong
imagination to understand the full meaning of 'piles'
- sorry, chaps, couldn't resist that one!]
