Testing for numerics

Hi from Paris,

I knew that a simple question like this would get the neurons
going (although I did need the answer, and I've had this problem
for some time and never solved it elegantly !).

I am always amazed at the quality of the minds on this forum.

Keep me in this state - I learn a lot !

I think I will go for Jims and Kens joint solution :
