Recreating Deleted Field Crashes Rev v2.7.1 on WinXP

It hasn't happened to me, but I have seen a case where going to the
Table section of the Inspector hung Revolution. Command-. stopped
whatever was happening and it worked after that, so you may not need
to reboot.

I always use Rinaldi's excellent revTabRuler plugin to set tabStops
visually. This is now installed by default in your plugins folder.
