Have you tried

on preOpenStack
   send "mouseUp" to btn "my_manual_database_open" in 1 second
end preOpenStack

That is to call your button script which you know works otherwise? 
Also, such functions IMHO should be run in openstack not 
preopenstack. There is a subtle difference.
