BUT

they don't work with my text . . .

uploading a ZIP file containing an RTF file and a
screenshot of that RTF file (so you can see what it is
meant to contain) to:

[apologies about the originality of the name of the
file]

(the Bulgarian reads: "Greetings from John")

the font was "Charcoal CY" (a Mac OS 9 font that comes
with the Bulgarian language kit:

the RTF file was authored on a Mac G4 running 10.4.8
in TextEdit.
