Replacetext conundrum

Dear All

Why does (in the message box even, but also in scripts)

put the replacetext("dah at dah","@",".") give "dah.dah"

but

put the replacetext("dah.dah",".","@") give "@ @ @ @ @ @ @"

this is surely a bug?
