AltBrower= crash dummy?

Thomas....

I've used altBrowser successfully on several projects, so I can
assure you it doesn't "crash like nobody's business." From your note,
I am going to surmise that you didn't bother to try to contact the
support guys at Altuit because if you had, you'd have learned: (a)
there are separate versions of altBrowser for the various releases of
OS X because; (b) Apple has been changing the WebKit code on which
altBrowser is based more often than most people change underwear.
(OK, that's a bad analogy.)

You're running a version behind on the OS. It also sounds like you
aren't following the directions in the stack that require you to put
the altBrowser engine in a place separate from the demo stack and use
it in your own stacks from there. (I did that wrong at firs, too.)

If you'd contacted Chipp Walters and his team at altuit.com, they'd
have told you this and helped you get to a stable situation. Posting
your first-response reactions to a shipping commercial product in a
public forum without really having any background in the situation
isn't very friendly. I know it's frustrating when other peoples'
stuff doesn't work, but before you start trashing someone else's
software it might be a decent idea to talk to them first and see
where the problem is and if it can be fixed.

Anyway, I suspect Chipp'll chime in here soon with a more "official"
response. I just wanted to share what I do know. If you upgrade to
10.4 and the appropriate altBrowser, this stuff works.
