FWIW, have you ever been able to paste text from any MS app that applies
formatting to text (such as Word)?  I haven't tried in a long time because
(years ago) when I initially tried to this, I found that MS adds so much
formatting garbage to the text it was impossible to get clear text copied
over and have since avoided it.  I might be wrong here, but I believe Word
adds more than just RTF or Unicode tags -- they add their own internal
formatting which makes it difficult to parse.

BTW, I've found NotePad and WordPad are usually fine because they do not add
the formatting that apps like Word include.
