Rotating images . . . ?

1. When I rotate a GIF that contains transparent areas it
deteriorates . . . this is a bother . . . any bright ideas
how to cope with this one?

2. When I rotate an image by a mouse click:

on mouseUp
  rotate img "egg.gif" by 90
end mouseUp

it develops a dotted border and won't let me do it again
unless I flip between the 'browse' and 'pointer' cursors.
