Making html links do something

Hello, I have a question about html links in text areas.

I have an html page loaded into a text field and I'd like to make the 
links in the web page, when clicked, grab a text file from the web 
server to be parsed. I searched for info on this in the docs but didn't 
see it, does anyone know if any examples of this that might be floating 
around? Or, better yet, does anyone know how I might do this?
