I switched it to png and tried it, and it works fine like that as well.
So, if it will be more accurate, then cool!

I would recommend that you export the image as a PNG instead of a GIF. 
Remember that the GIF format only supports 256 colors (though it is 
possible to get more) while the PNG format supports something like 
thousands or millions (can't remember which).
