That's one of the things I like about being in my 40s: I got started 
when computing was mostly a bunch of techno-hippies who were all about 
sharing. :)

I remember a fella on an old WildCat BBS (that was before the Web was 
invented) who taught me how to parse Mac 'VERS' resources.  I vowed to 
return the favor once I knew something worth sharing, and he encouraged 
me to pay it forward, which I've been trying to do ever since.

His name was Gordon Apple, and he was a fellow member of the LA Mac User 
Group.  If I've ever posted anything useful to you and you happen across 
him at a conference, be sure to tell him "Thanks".  He's a swell guy, 
and his sharing spirit, like so many of the time, was a real inspiration 
to me.
