Is there a revolutionary equivalence for this Toolbook example

1.
to get mydate
return label of button "today"
end
suppose the label = "24-02-2005"
then this command will show that:
put mydate()

2.
In Toolbook you may create a viewer
With a viewer you can look inside
each toolbookapplication, whithout opening it
