Actually, in reality, it can be either a single-character euro 
symbol, letters EU, or letters EUR. The symbol should be written 
after the number AFAIK, but I have seen it written up front quite 
often, like $, although usually with a space between it and the 
number. Even with dollar or other currencies, some places use the 
three-char international designations (USD for US dollar, for 
example). Same goes for countries that haven't switched to euro yet. 
For example, Poland may use ZL, the traditional designation for 
Zloty, or PLN, its international designation.
