Cross Platform Issues?

How are folks handling the cross-platform issues, like fonts and colors
(mac/win)? Are you just using fonts common to both OS, or do you use
profiles (which I'm kinda weak with conceptually still)?

PS. Does anybody know which font Windows XP uses for its buttons, fields,
pulldowns, etc.?
