Way to make app undetectable?

Is there a way to make a Revolution application run from the startup folder  
on Mac and Windows, and then be undetectable to the user thereafter?  (i.e.  
Not having the icon show up in the taskbar or dock, and not showing the menubar 
 for the app when it's running)
I realize that you'd probably never be able to hide the Rev app from  
control-alt-delete, but that's ok.
