Count me among them. I'm accustomed to the easy of DMGs and 
installer-making tools like Wise Install, and have been looking for a 
tool that'll handle proper installation and icon assignments in most 
popular window managers easily.

Know of one?

Hand-writing RPMs seems so primitive....
