image transfer not working again...

You can get the raw image from 'image x' or 'the text of image x', but 
I sometimes get empty.  On my setup on OS X, I find that export to a 
variable as PNG is more reliable.

I haven't been doing this.  Maybe that is a cause of some of my 
troubles.  Does this have to be set to the source image type before the 
text of the image is set?
