ummm... how can iTunes be a "BETAMAX" when it's cross platform?

You mean it only uploads into an iPod? Or they're not using MP3 ? 
That will change....Or shareware will appear.

Anyway, currently for online music for PCs you have proprietary 
softwares.... and no "VHS" analogy.
