Handling I can help you with, parsing is another matter.

The Transcript open file command includes a text/binary argument.

The get URL & put URL commands also allow syntax to specify text or 
binary treatment of a file's contents.  Assuming you wish to load the 
entire image, you will probably pick get URL over open file syntax.

As for parsing, you might check out the bitAnd, bitNot, bitOr, & 
bitXor operators.
